Race Sunday at Croft
14-09-2009
Following difficult qualifying sessions on Saturday both Dan and Pat had their races on Sunday at BSB Croft.
Dan and Rob Mac Racing started 13th on the grid for the British Supersport Championship race, and made a great start moving through to 7th and then 6th on the first corner and 5th place by the end of the first lap. Dan then set about the race leaders but a pace car at half distance brought the pack together. After the pace car left the circuit Dan moved up to 4th place passing Ian Hutchinson and chased after Ben Wilson in 3rd. Unfortunately at this point Dan's rear tyre was finished and started to lose performance so Dan was fighting a defensive battle for the last 4 laps finishing in 7th. Not the result Dan wanted but a good race that will build confidence going into the Silverstone round in 2 weeks.
Pat and Beowulf Racing started 22nd on the grid for the British Superstock 600 Championship with front suspension that was not running properly. It was always going to be a battle to try to move up the standings. Pat fought hard but was not able to run at the pace he would expect because of the suspension and finished 20th. The suspension is being repaired before a test at Silverstone this Wednesday prior to the next round there in 2 weeks. Pat also has an endurance event at the circuit this coming weekend on a superbike, which will be great training for the BSB event.
