Pat McDougall retains leadership of the British Superstock 600 Championship after a mixed race at Donington today
25-05-2009
Pat finished today's British Superstock 600 Championship race in 10th place today to gain 6 points and retain his lead of the championship. Pat got a good start from 3rd on the grid and took the lead over the early race. However, from lap three Pat could not hold the leading pace and dropped positions progressively but managed to finish the race in 10th. In Pat"s words:
"I'm a little disappointed but I suppose it's better than no points at all. I got a good start and was going for the win. The back slid out at the Foggy Esses on the first lap, I took a near-highside and by the time I landed back on the bike three or four riders had got past me. I overtook someone on the chicane but ran wide and anther two got past me, so I was feeling pretty frustrated. Later, I went into the Old Hairpin and Daniel Kneen got past me which pushed me into the mud, so I lost six or seven places. At that point I just had to fight my way back up. If there had been a few more laps in the race, I could have passed the next two riders in front, Josh Day and Jordan Thompson, but tenth is better than no points. The arm pump I suffered on the bike at the last round was ok, it came up a little bit but I stayed relaxed and got into a rhythm on the bike. The main thing is I'm still leading the championship, so it's just a case of getting to Thruxton and pulling a gap out there again."
From here Pat's next race is BSB Thruxton next weekend.
