Gino Rea's summary of his three day Valencia test

17-03-2009

Gino returned at the weekend from a three day test at the Ricardo Tormo circuit in Valencia (a summary of the first day can be found here). The test bike was kindly provided by Stephen Harnett and his track motorbike preparation company NDM. The test was useful and in Gino's words:

"I have not been out on a road bike since the Portimao race in November, so it's really good to be back out. Unfortunately we couldn't use my race bike, but to me it was just important to get some laps in. I did 150 laps on the first day which was really good for my fitness and got my riding back up to speed. From then on we were trying different things and generally putting in laps. We didn't have the luxury to keep putting in new tyres, so I ended up doing 200+ laps on my front tyre and 150+ laps on my rear, but it was good for my confidence as I could still put in some good laptimes towards the end. Hopefully I will get a chance to ride my race bike soon! I can't wait for the season opener at Valencia!"

More news to come on Gino's team for 2009 WSBK Superstock 600 and their testing plans prior to the first race in Valencia on 5th April.
