On Monday Gino travelled to the Netherlands to be fitted for his 2009 leathers with Damen and to have a Ten Kate tour. Due to ongoing discussions that his 2009 race team is having with one of their sponsors that we have referred to previously, we are not in a position to announce Gino's team for next year yet. More news hopefully within a week. In Gino's words:
"My Holland trip has been an awesome experience, we started off with a visit to the Damen leather factory to get measured up for my 2009 suits. The factory is really cool, their products are really nice and I can't wait to get in my new leathers! Damen also supplied me with XPD boots and also a pair of new Damen boots to be tested. I then got to go behind scenes where the leathers are made, it was amazing to see how much work goes into making just one set of leathers, and how many people are involved in it. I also saw GP125 rider Danny Webb's leathers in the process of being made.
We then visited the Ten Kate Honda shop/factory. It's an amazing place, they have a new & used bike shop where they also sell a lot of clothing. Then they have a customer repair service, a section for building Hanspree replica bikes, their TKR Tuning department where they have seperate sections for the customer tuning and the race team tuning. Then when you enter the Race Team section, they have ex-race bikes such as James Toseland's, Checa's, Pitt's and STK riders Maxime Berger and Micheal Sembera. I then met with Ronald and Gerrit Ten Kate and I got to see the section where the World Superbike and Supersport bikes are kept and worked on which was really interesting. They have areas for Dyno tuning and suspension tuning with special machines such as suspension dynos. Then there is all the team trucks along with the hospitality services that go to all the races. After I had seen most of the factory I had to leave to catch my plan home, this brought my tour to an end, but needless to say it was very interesting and well worth the trip!"
