Gino Rea riding for Ten Kate Honda in WSBK Superstock 600 for 2009
26-03-2009
We are delighted to confirm that Gino Rea is racing in WSBK European Superstock 600 for Ten Kate Honda in 2009. The announcement has been delayed due to ongoing negotiations between Ten Kate and one of their headline sponsors (as covered previously), but we are now able to confirm the news. The premier WSBK team approached Gino following his successful 2008 season with StoneBaker Racing in the same championship. Gino achieved 5 podium finishes including a win at the Portimao round in Portugal and third place overall in the championship. The Ten Kate Honda Junior team will also be racing Maxime Berger in the Superstock 1000 class won by Brendan Roberts in 2008. Like Gino, Maxime is a strong favorite for the 2009 championship. In Gino's words:
"Ten Kate is the team that I and many other racers look up to and want to be part of. I'm in the best shape I've ever been in, I've put a lot of effort into my fitness training and dieting over the winter so I'm feeling good. I have the experience of running at the front of races now so I want to give Ten Kate, Honda and myself a STK600 title this year! I'm looking forward to working with the team and I can't wait to ride the bike at the season opener at Valencia!"
The first race is in 10 days time at Valencia and Gino will be heading out to Spain on Tuesday.
