Gino Rea racing in the Dutch Superbike Championship this weekend

21-05-2009

Gino is racing the next round of the Dutch Superbike Championship with the Duntep team this weekend. It is the Hengelo street circuit round in the east of the Netherlands. Today was a free practice day and in Gino's words:

"Today we are riding at Hengelo street circuit, a free practice day. It's going really good and Ten Kate have given us a new base setting to start from. We had some problems in first session, my bike leaked water which got the session red flagged. I only got about 6 laps and ended up way down the field with a 1m59s. In the second session I finished 4th with a 1m51s. In the 3rd and last I was quickest until the last lap. I finished 3rd with a 1m49s two tenths off first and about 0.6s from lap record. It's also quite cold and windy so we are riding fast. For my first street circuit I am really enjoying it. It's better than I thought it would be as long as you don't look at the trees which line some of the fast straights! Tomorrow is a day off and the ONK (Dutch Superbike Championship) starts Saturday."
