Gino Rea on the podium in 2nd at Imola

28-09-2009

Gino and Ten Kate Honda had a very successful weekend at Imola with a podium finish in 2nd. In Gino's words:

"That was a pretty fun race and I'm happy to be back on the podium! I had a few moments but my biggest mistake was not realising it was the last lap.. I thought there was another lap to go and I was determined to close down whoever was infront of me, unfortunately as I exited the final chicane I saw the finish flag waving and I finished in 2nd. The small bit of tracktime we got last weekend at Assen really helped us in the way of bike set up and to smoothen out my riding. To split the Italians in their back garden feels great and keeps me smiling going into Magny Cours next weekend. I felt really good with the front end of the bike but struggled a little with rear grip but the gearing change we made was the right direction. I'd like to thank all my mechanics and everyone that kept faith in me as a rider, it was good for the championship and I'm looking forward to the final two remaining races. I'd also like to say happy birthday to my nan, so Happy Birthday!"
