Gino Rea 4th in Dutch Superbike Championship race at Assen today
14-06-2009
Gino and the Duntep Racing team finished the Dutch Superbike race at Assen today in a solid 4th place after a slightly frustrating race. In Gino's words:
"Today had some ups and downs, the race was red flagged after 8 laps while I was in 4th. At the beginning of the race my pace was OK, I done a 1min41.8, but then my front wheel had a vibration coming from it. Everytime I was in the mid part of the corner it was making the front wheel chatter so I couldn't push. It started to get worse and the ex world supersport champion Teuchert began to catch me. The race then got red flagged. For the restart we didn't have another slick tyre to use so I had to put on a Supercorsa treaded tyre. At the beginning it was OK, I was in 4th again, I done a 1min41.4 but as I was pushing to catch Jones I almost lost the front. The results were on aggregate so I would have had to pass and gap him. I finished behind him in 4th and 4th overall. The other wildcard won the race, Teuchert 5th. So not bad considering our problems. Italy tomorrow, I can't wait to get on the beach and relax!"
The race order was Van Ginhoven, R. Schouten, G. Jones, G. Rea, J Teuchert.

As Gino mentioned, he is now traveling to Italy for a few days rest with family before the start of the WSBK Superstock 600 round at Misano later this week.
