Gino Rea, 2009 WSBK Superstock 600 Champion

Gino and Ten Kate Honda took the 2009 WSBK Superstock 600 Championship title at Portimao today with third place in the race maintaining Gino's championship lead by 1 point. Starting 8th on the grid Gino made a great start and was first into the first corner to start a three way battle at the front with Marco Bussolotti and Vincent Lombois. That battle ensued for the whole 10 lap race with Gino ensuring that his position related to the other two riders maintained his championship lead. With Bussolotti first to the line and Lombois 2nd, Gino knew that 3rd would give him the very well deserved title. Congratulations to Gino and the Ten Kate Honda team.
