Dan Linfoot second on the grid for tomorrow's British Supersport Championship race
03-05-2009
Dan and Rob Mac Racing today qualified 2nd for tomorrow's BSB British Supersport Championship race at Oulton Park. Yesterday Dan was fastest in practice with a time of 1m 40.1s but it was clear that qualifying would be faster still. With this in mind the team addressed the "choppy" back end sliding that Dan was experiencing going into corners. The sliding is usual but the choppyness was causing issues. For first qualifying this morning the team changed the fork springs to stiffen the front and hold the back firmer on the track. This did not fully solve the issue and faster times were not possible. Dan pulled into the pits to change the settings back to yesterday's and had time for three laps at the end of the session to set a 1m 38.7s for 6th position.
For second (final) qualifying the team tried an electronics solution to the problem and Dan set off for three laps before coming back into the pits. The fix had solved the problem. The team fitted new tyres and with ten minutes remaining in the session Dan went out to set the fastest time of the weekend of 1m 38.88s which was also a lap record. However, with two minutes remaining in the session Hudson Kennaugh achieved a lap of 1m 38.81s and another lap record for pole for the race.
Dan and the team are delighted with the day's work and are in a great position for the race tomorrow (Monday) at 14.40. The race will be live on Eurosport 2.
