Dan Linfoot crashes whilst leading British Supersport Championship race in changing weather conditions
04-05-2009
Dan and the Rob Mac Racing team left Oulton Park today frustrated by a missed opportunity for a strong race finish but buoyed by good qualifying and early race performance.
The British Supersport Championship race started in dry but changing conditions. Dan had a moderate start dropping back to 6th place before cutting through the field to 2nd behind Paul Young over the first two laps. The race was then red flagged and all riders came into the pits. Although it was drizzling at that point the correct tyre choice looked to be dry and at the restart the riders at the front on dry tyres were clearly fastest. Dan made his way to lead the field but rain started to fall after two further laps and the track became slippier. The riders on dry tyres slowed and those that had chosen intermediate tyres became stronger. At this point Dan lost the bike on the damp at the end of the pit lane straight and unfortunately his race was over. Dan Cooper on intermediate tyres went on to a comanding win with Dennis Hobbs in second.
Not the race outcome for Dan that he or the Rob Mac Racing team wanted however, on the positive side of things Dan takes his race leading performance into the next round at Donington Park in three weeks.
