Dan Linfoot at Magny Cours: 15th was not the outcome we were expecting but an enjoyable weekend.
06-10-2009
Dan Linfoot and Rob Mac Racing finished the World Supersport Race in Magny Cours in 15th this weekend after a hard fought but enjoyable weekend. Not the result we were expecting when we entered the event but we have learnt from the experience. In addition, a parc ferme procedural infringement means that the result does not register. Race day in Dan's words:
"So here we are, race day. This is what the weekend has been building up to and nice again we were blessed with lovely French weather.
Morning warm-up went well, no major issues. We had a few things to try which didn't work, so reverted back to qualifying setup for the race.
I had a problem after the sighting lap caused by me missing a gear and clicking it back in, the chain stretched and throughout the race had a vibrating sensation through the rear end, not costing time, but just a strange feeling.
I made a good start in the race, finding a few places during the first lap shenanigans, then settling into a five-way dice for 19th position. I made my way to the front of the group, which included Kev Coghlan and Arie Vos, combined with a few fallers during the race, we found ourselves scrapping for 15th position.
With two laps to go of the 22 lap race (94km), myself and Kev Coghlan arrived at the final turn, and both lost the front end on oil dropped by Barry Veneman, bringing out the red flag.
Not being able to get the bike going, I returned to the pitbox, expecting the result to be taken from back a lap but unknown to us, I had to return to parc ferme to claim my 15th place result, which I didn't do, costing us the result.
That being said, I had a great battle in the race, thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience, besides not being classified.
I expected to do a little better this weekend, but it just goes to show how strong the world series is.
So, it's back to Oulton Park next weekend for the final BSB round where I will once again be riding the Node4 superbike, and can't wait.
Big thanks to Richard from Stonebaker, Spider, Karl and Leighton for making the weekend possible."
