Christian Iddon's summary of Supermoto test in Italy over the last week
18-02-2009
Christian has completed his latest test in Italy. It was the first opportunity to ride his new 2009 Team Motoracing KTM Supermoto and took place at both Busca near Torino and Ottobiano near Milan. in Christian's words:
"Testing began in a difficult way with snow all around the circuit (Busca) and temperatures struggling to get over 4 degrees. It meant that the first day of testing was more of a familiarisation with the bike and how it feels to once again be riding a single cylinder bike. All through the day I was learning new things and having to adapt my style to suit the different power characteristics.
By the second day we had moved away from the Alps and the temperature was much more respectable at the circuit just south of Milan. This was my first real chance to see what my new MOTORACING KTM could do. Throughout the day we made small changes to the overall balance of the bike. As a Supermoto rider I ride very much with the front of the bike and we spent a lot of time adjusting the forks and ride height until I became comfortable with the feeling. In the end things were going well and I managed to post some respectable times with I am sure plenty more to come.
There is still plenty more to come from the bike too. I will soon be able to test a new engine as well as a new ignition box by JD. Both of these should give an extra 4-6 hp as well as 1000rpm more. At the next test I'll also be pushing more with the settings as I become more familiar with how to set up the KTM."
